  1. Settting Up PCContact\Windows

  3. (These instructions assume that you already have Dynacomm set up on 
  4.         your system, or that you've installed the Dynacomm working model
  5.         demo.)

  7. 1) Copy PCC6.DCP and PCC6.DCT into the DCP subdirectory of your Dynacomm 
  8.         directory (generally called DYNACOMM if you've installed the full
  9.         version of Dynacomm, or DCDEMO if you've installed the working model
  10.         demonstration.)
  11.  
  12. 3) Copy all files with a DCM extension into the DCM subdirectory of your 
  13.         Dynacomm directory.
  14.  
  15. 4) Copy all files with a DAT extension into the DAT subdirectory of  
  16.         your Dynacomm directory.
  17.         
  18. 5) Copy ACCOUNT.INF into the DAT subdirectory of your Dynacomm directory.
  19.  
  20. 6) Copy PCC1.DCS into the DCS subdirectory of your Dynacomm directory.
  21.  
  22. 7) Copy CBAR1.BMP into the DAT subdirectory of your Dynacomm directory.

  24. 8) Run Dynacomm

  26. 9) Use the Script Execute command to execute "PCC6.DCP"
  27.  
  28. 10) Select the setup button to set account and communications options.

  34. Online options:

  36. The Terminal button will provide you with standard terminal access to 
  37. CIS. This option will be enhanced in the future to provide additional 
  38. navigational help.

  40. The AutoServe button will provide you with automated, scripted access to the 
  41. PCContact forum. When selected it opens a dialog box entitled "Script" which 
  42. allows you to specify which functions it should perform online. The Options 
  43. button of the Script dialog box provides additional control over Library 
  44. and Forum options.

  46. Once the Script dialog is closed the script will be executed.

  48. Offline options:

  50. Setup was discussed above.

  52. Library provides off-line access to forum files, allowing you to specify 
  53. files for uploading and downloading.

  55. Mail provides off-line mail services.

  57. Forum provides off-line management services for forum messages.

  62. TIPS for Using PCCONTACT\Windows
  63.  
  64. 1) Use the Options button on the Script dialog to deselect those file 
  65. libraries or message areas that don't interest you.
  66.  
  67. 2) Checking for new files is the most time-consuming part of the on-line
  68. process, so you should probably only select this option on the Script
  69. dialog once a week or so. The script asks PCCONTACT to
  70. list all files since the last time you obtained a file list, not the
  71. last time you connected, so there is no danger of missing a new file
  72. listing.

  74. 3) Use the Terminal option to explore other Ziffnet and Compuserve
  75. forums.
  76.  
  77. 4) The script does not currently support transfer of BINARY mail
  78. messages. If someone sends you a binary file via Compuserve's mail 
  79. service, you'll find the message listed in PCContact's mail listing,
  80. but the message will only read "Message is Binary". To retrieve the file,
  81. reconnect to PCContact using the Terminal option, type GO MAIL, and 
  82. download the file using the protocol of your choice.

  84. 5) The forum messages dialog uses a batch delete method. When you select
  85. the delete button your message will be marked with the letter "D" at the 
  86. beginning of its listbox entry. You can unmark it by pressing the delete
  87. button again with the listbox highlight bar on that message. When you 
  88. select the Return to Menu button you'll be given the option of erasing
  89. all the marked messages or of unmarking them.

  91. The Library and Mail don't utilize this method yet, although it will 
  92. probably be implemented in a future version of the script.

  94. 6) If you want to run the PCContact script automatically whenever Dynacomm
  95. is run, rename PCC6.DCT to AUTOEXEC.DCT.
